Children's Hospital
Cincinnati (July 19, 2004)

GFL was invited for the third time to view an operation, this time for children with Eosiniphlic Gastroenteritis at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio. GFL was given permission to view the operating room.

(Left photo) This is Beth and her son Charlie a few hours after the operation. A tissue sample was taken from Charlie s stomach to see if there were any Eosinophil abnormalities, we were so thankful to find out great results!

(Middle photo) This is a map of all the RMH in the United States. When you to eat at Ronald McDonald restaurants and you see the donation box for the Ronald McDonald Houses, Please give what you can, what they are doing is wonderful. Take a tour sometime at your local Ronald McDonald and be prepare to be humbled with gratitude

(Right photo) After we said good bye to Beth and Charlie we went to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) for a tour. We love the RMH they are so helpful to families with very sick children. RMH helps families with affordable long term lodging while their children are in the hospital having operations.

(Left photo) While we were waiting for the operation to finish we went to the hospital chapel to pray for Charlie and Beth. We came across the chapel book people write in while facing adversities at this hospital. This touched our hearts and I had to share this with the world.

Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS)
Nashville, Tennessee (July 8-11 2004)

(Left picture) GFL had a wonderful time in Nashville at the CAAS. We wish we could feature all the artists like Edgar Cruz, Richard Smith, Tommy Emmanuel, Thom Bresh, Pat Kirtley (who by the way named Guitars For Life) and so many more. Please visit our website and click on the Chet Atkins link to get more information about this years event.

(Left picture) Mark Pritcher president of the CAAS. Mark's been so kind to GFL allowing us to have a booth handing out GFL information and network to solo guitarists. We thank Mark for all he does for so many people. He keeps Chet alive so others can see the magnitude of Chet's contribution to music, the way it is, was and will always be. Chet the master, a genius who forever will be known as the worlds greatest guitarist.

Richard Mermer presented the GUITAR OF LIFE to Guitars For Life on stage Friday night. We will keep everyone informed when and where and who we are raising money for with this exclusive donation. Thank you Richard Mermer of Mermer Guitars and the Boy Scouts from Sabation Fl, Troop #525. You boys are on the right track in life. We hope you like the GFL Autographed t-shirt from all of the musicians we gave to you on stage that night also.

(Left photo) Mason Williams performed his legendary song "Classical Gas" and blew the large audience away. This brought back so many memories for so many people. Classical Gas is one of the most played songs by musicians world wide!

(Right photo) Suzy Bougguss performed, she was wonderful, so humorous. Suzy loves her fans. She stayed 2 hours after her show signing autographs until the very last fan was happy. GFL was delighted to talk with Suzy and her manager about hopeful future performances.

Summer NAMM
Nashville, Tennessee (July 23-25 2004)

After the Show in Denver it was up again at 4 AM to catch a flight Back to Nashville for the Summer Namm Show. What's wrong with this picture and why is Thom the only one smiling in the picture? Well because both guy's on each side of Thom is thinking of going Country. Or is Thom thinking? Oh never mind.

While in Nashville we ran into Nick Sterling at the Gibson Guitars after hours party on Saturday the 24th of July. Nick just turned 14 and showed everyone his smooth as silk performance. We are so proud of Nick a 4 time performer with GFL he has earned his way into a Gibson Guitar Endorsement where we believe they will be making him a special Gibson Guitar with a wami bar. Nick also performs on other instruments including the piano and drums. Nick's father Jim and I were able to spend a little time together and we see even further the blanket of protection he has over Nick. It's so nice to see mothers and fathers protecting the talent of their children not looking at the dollar but looking at the child looking at life and all they can do for it with his gift. Thank you Jim and Jo Sterling.

Yes he jumps through the air with the greatest of ease. Plays behind his back and even plucks the guitar with his teeth. It was a time that was so rewarding for us. We talked with his father Mark throughout the weekend and we are quite confident that he is raising his son Mark to be well roooted and grounded with respect and determination. Mark has all the qualities for stardom with a magnetic draw to him. We are very thankful to his father Mark who looks at this as an opportunity for his son to contribute to Guitars for Life and all mankind with his extraordinary talent, and I mean extraordinary talent on guitar.

It doesn't stop at the guitar, Mark played the piano amazingly and we've been around this great big planet and performed with the best so we know what were talking about. Mark had crowds around him, they were shaking their heads in wonder. We don't call Mark a prodigy, just because he was born called to do this doesn't mean he doesn't have to practice. Mark told me he practices 4 to 8 hours a day. We are so hopeful and sure that one day soon Mark will join GFL and together we will help today less fortunate children and make the greatest impact ever known to mankind through music. Mark senior we talk you so much for your dedication to your son.

Sacramento Memorial Auditorium
Sacramento, CA (June 12, 2004)

First and foremost, Guitars For Life would like to thank all of our volunteers! Our volunteers gave of their time at both the California Music Awards and GFL Hercules shows, which were both held on June 6th 2004!

GFL would like to extend a special thanks to Pete Boyd (for donating his guitar to GFL) and his lovely wife Rene for their volunteer work at Hercules. Pete Boyd's donated guitar was autographed by Tesla and Night Ranger.

A big thanks to the band Cradle (Craig, Frank, Larry, Todd and Sam), as well as Shelly Batchelder and Deneen Fabsits for their work at Oakland and Hercules. Another huge thanks to Bill Boyrer, Michael Hedtke and Deborah for their volunteer work in Oakland as well! Guitars For Life loves you all and appreciates what you do! We can't thank you enough!

Troy, Jared and Craig
This is Troy, Jared and Craig, Jared's father. Jared has Cerebral Palsy. Troy has been a devoted friend since the time they have met. GFL was touched by Jared at the Tesla concert, not knowing that Troy was touched by Jared months before.

This is what Jared's father wrote to GFL after we got home from the concert.

"Hi Casey, this is Craig Goff we met at the June 18th Tesla show in Sacramento California. My son's name is Jared the little boy with Cerebral Palsy. We would again like to thank you for your kindness & generosity we enjoyed meeting you and finding out about your organization. I’m looking forward to possibly doing some type of benefit for cerebral palsy in the future".

P.S "Thank you for having the shirt signed for Jared".

GFL met Troy, drummer for Tesla at the NAAM show in January. We met again at the California Music Awards in June where we hit it off to a new level. GFL needs to express our feelings about Tesla. These gentlemen are more than just rockers they are great men working hard at using music to help others. Listen to their music, it's all positive. After the show all their fans waited for them in special assigned seats. The band came out to greet them and spent time with them and we were blown away! They truly understand that it is all about us caring for them and their music. To top it off they love helping children with their music. Tesla has the power and drive to keep them alive and make a positive impact with their music to help our children!

As founder of Guitars For Life I'm driven with compassion, dedication, reliability and the spirit to lead GFL to the highest peaks attainable for each charitable cause that we support. As GFL approaches our third anniversary of establishment as a non-profit organization, I find the mission deepening and expanding.

The pace has lead GFL to outstanding performances by legendary musicians who believe deeply in our causes. As for Guitars for Life's musicians: They are without any doubt among the greatest humanitarians on the face of the earth. Can you just imagine what is to come and who will step forward and lead us further to help the lives of todays less fortunate children and other humanitarian causes.

Guitars for Life Mission Statement

The purpose of Guitars For Life is to support organizations working for children with diseases, especially rare diseases and other humanitarian causes. We also raise public awareness about facts regarding the afflictions of our beneficiaries. Our missionary efforts are dedicated to those involved in genetic research, specialized surgery, and to the families of the afflicted children.

Our vehicle for funding our family of charities is through hosting concerts with musicians who believe deeply in our cause. With our music, together we will persevere in our mission to help find cures for these children, because we are "musicians with a heart."

The Progeria Project Foundation

Progeria is a very rare terminal condition.
From the Greek meaning "prematurely old". Characterized by an appearance of accelerated aging.

For all those directly or indirectly affected by the condition, we hope to provide pertinent information, solutions, and a contact base, amongst other things,
for each of you to call upon as your need arises.

Jarcho-Levin Syndrome (Spondylothoracic Dysplasia)

Jarcho-Levin Syndrome
is a genetic disease in which the chest cavity is grossly deformed and the ribs are fused to the vertebrae. Because the ribs are fused to the vertebrae the lungs and other vital organs are subject to suffocation if not treated. Additionally the ribs flare outward opposed to the normal body structure, and severe scoliosis manifests itself which creates a dwarf like appearance.

Frequent problems that arise are upper respiratory infections, pneumonia and an inability to breathe without an oxygen inhalation machine.

As part of their treatment children with this affliction are flown to Texas every six months to receive titanium rib implants. This procedure enables the ribs to contract and expand in tandem with lungs. Dr. Campbell there, leads all surgical teams involved with these intricate procedures. Dr. Campbell is the only doctor in the world successfully implementing this procedure for this rare disease.

Due to the revolutionary nature of this procedure and the frequency with which it must be performed a great financial burden is imposed upon the families of children suffering from this disease.

Our dedication on these matters is to raise money for the families, research and treatment of
Jarcho-Levin Syndrome.

JEUNE'S SYNDROME FAMILY FOUNDATION

Our mission is to assist families of children with Jeune's Syndrome in finding current information and access to the parent support network. We also intend to financially assist families that need to travel with their child out of town/state for rib expansion surgeries.

We are a 501(c)3 organization as a project of the Colorado Non-profit Development Center.

Jeune's Syndrome, aka Jeune's Asphyxiating Thoracic Dystrophy (ATD), is an autosomal recessive form of dwarfism. It is characterized by many bone abnormalities, the most pronounced being a long, narrow thorax with a reduced thoracic (rib) cage capacity causing the lungs to not have enough room to breathe. Renal (kidney) and hepatic (liver) dysfunction are present in some cases.

Until recently, children diagnosed with Jeune's Syndrome were given nearly hopeless predictions about their future life. Many would succumb to respiratory infection, or die from liver or kidney failure. Much has been done in recent years to give these children a decent chance in life. Transplants have been successful in treating liver and kidney problems and chest expansion procedures have been developed to give their lungs room to grow. www.jeunesfamily.org
